Prior to discovering RAYVA, Brilliant AV had significantly scaled back on home theater projects because they no longer fit the integrator’s business model of providing repeatable, predictable quality technology experiences and high service levels. In short, home theaters weren’t scalable because each one typically needs to be designed from scratch. But after a short meeting with RAYVA’s David Rodarte and Jeff Zemanek, Steve Stary, Director of Sales for Brilliant AV, realized RAYVA’s new concept introduced a repeatable process to home theater design and engineering, leading to new profit potential for integrators while delivering superior technology experiences to consumers.

4K Home Theater Becomes the Centerpiece of Newport Beach Home
Stary encountered RAYVA when he was in the midst of negotiations to design and install a 400-square-foot home theater within a 3,500-square-foot cliff-top ranch overlooking Newport Harbor in the highly-coveted neighborhood of Newport Beach, California.

Situated directly off the great room, the theater will be the main gathering space and the home’s entertainment epicenter. “The theater is literally part of the main living area. It’s important to the family,” says Stary. “And that means how it looks and how it performs is really important.”

The homeowners have four children who are young adults—one already living on his own, and the other three in college. In those treasured moments when the kids are home, the whole family needs a cozy space where they can gather. “If they’re going to kick back and watch anything other than the news, they will be in the home theater,” says Stary.

Starting with a Plan, Customizing a Dream Theater
Based on the intimate size of the room, the theater is built on RAYVA’s gold package but includes significant audio and video upgrades. The theater will include a Dolby Atmos object-based surround sound system, 4K projector, a 4K content delivery system and an acoustically transparent Stewart Filmscreen projection screen.

The final furniture layout hasn’t been decided yet, reveals Stary, but he knows the family is seeking an informal and comfortable room layout. “This is the room where they will connect when they are together as a family,” he says.

With this in mind, Stary and the homeowners will visit the Southern California-based headquarters and factory of FORTRESS Seating, one of RAYVA’s prestigious manufacturer partners, to explore the vast possibilities in armless sofas, loungers, and chaises that will allow the family to relax together in the space. The second row may feature conventional theater-style seats, with a bar in the back of the room.

Until seeing the RAYVA designs Stary presented, the client was on the fence regarding his choice of home technology integrator. The homeowner has had several homes designed and built from the ground up, and has even acted as a general contractor on prior homes, so he’s a savvier consumer than most.

RAYVA Appoints Abhay Bhandarkar as Chief Operating Officer

RAVYA continues to grow with an expanded sales force and now, the addition of seasoned technology and business expert Bhandarkar heading up operations

“Abhay’s decades of experience with both IBM and UST Global as an IT and Business system leader ensures RAYVA’s commitment to exceeding our customers’ expectations. Abhay excelled in his role as a consultant for RAVYA, and is very well connected not only in the technology sector but in the entertainment industry,” says David Rodarte of RAVYA. “Not only do we think that he will help accelerate the growth of RAVYA and help ensure that our offerings remain both cutting-edge and top-notch, but we look forward to working with him to bring new theater designs and inspirations from overseas to the states.”

In addition to his consulting role with RAVYA, Bhandarkar brings rich experience and connections from his role as Director – Engineering Business Development for UST Global, a multinational provider of IT services and solutions. He also served as Program Manager for IBM and holds an MBA in Strategy and Finance from Columbia Business School, as well as a BE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Mumbai.
