Stewart Filmscreen Dual Roller Screen Gemini™ Debuts During CEDIA 2017

Revolutionary dual projection screen system design delivers optimal image fidelity and experience in any environment, day or night

TORRANCE, CA (August 2017) Stewart Filmscreen®—the only two-time Academy Award®-winning manufacturer of professional projection screens and reference standard, projection screen materials for the audiovisual industry, has announced the introduction and CEDIA debut of a new dual-roller projection screen system called Gemini™. This impressive new screen system includes a contemporary new case designed with dual aspect ratios to accommodate both HDTV (16:9) and Widescreen Cinema Scope (2:35:1) viewing experiences. CEDIA attendees can stop by booth #5329 and view the Gemini projector screen system during CEDIA from September 7 – 9, 2017 in the San Diego Convention Center.

Gemini: Two Screens for the Whole Family
When designing video systems in multi-use media rooms and gathering spaces, home technology professionals often need to choose between a screen material that will offer a true cinematic experience within a home theater or one that will perform well in high-ambient light conditions. Stewart Filmscreen’s Gemini projection screen system offers both in a sleek, contemporary package. Now, integrators, consultants, and their customers can get the best of both worlds, with two reference-grade screen materials offering two different aspect ratios. Users can automatically change the screen material and aspect ratio from 16:9 HDTV to 2.35:1 Cinemascope with the push of a button or via voice control when paired with third party options like the wildly popular Amazon Echo and others. Gemini is the perfect solution for home theaters, family rooms, and any other gathering space where people watch movies, stream media or content from the Internet, watch sports, or play video games. Simply select the appropriate aspect ratio for the content, and the finest screen material for the viewing conditions will immediately be deployed.

During its CEDIA 2017 debut, Gemini will be equipped with Stewart Filmscreen’s StudioTek™ material with a 2:35 aspect ratio, which is available in sizes up to 196-inches diagonal and perfect for family movie night in a dark, home cinema environment. Gemini will also be shown with Phantom™ HALR™, Stewart Filmscreen’s high ambient light rejection screen material in a 16:9 aspect ratio ideal for viewing streaming content, sports, and other content in bright conditions. Gemini can accommodate Phantom HALR screens up to 156 inches diagonal.

Both screens roll up into Gemini’s unobtrusive casing when not in use, ensuring that home technology professionals can maintain the desired design aesthetics of any room.

With the flexibility to deliver the best image performance and fidelity in any lighting environment and the ideal aspect ratios to view any content—from game day with friends to family movie night—Gemini is the perfect screen solution for the whole family.

Flexible, Rollable, and Acoustically Transparent
Gemini is available in a variety of flexible, front projection configurations to meet the needs of the modern home. Acoustically transparent options are also available using Stewart Filmscreen’s proprietary Cinemaperf or Microperf X2 THX Ultra perforated material options. As always, Stewart Filmscreen projection screen solutions come in a wide variety of sizes and are always flame resistant for added safety.

Easy to Spec, Easy to Install
The Gemini system has a number of features and benefits that make it a top choice for integrators and home technology professionals seeking a multi-purpose projection system for any room of the home. The lightweight screen housing comes in a choice of black or white case color to match any décor, and a four-corner mounting system for ceiling recessed installations. Optional wall-mount brackets are available for applications where wall mounting is preferred. The unit ships fully-assembled with a three-prong power connection, making it a true plug-and-play solution. The system comes complete with dual Somfy screen motors for powerful, nearly silent operation with superior timing and exceptional durability for years of use.

Compatible with Today’s Popular Control Systems
Adding to Gemini’s ease-of-use and functionality, the Gemini Screen System uses a dual IMC control, which can include a 12-volt trigger on the IMC or add the optional IBT 100 for RS-232 connection. Gemini is also compatible with today’s most popular home automation and control systems, including Crestron, AMX, and Savant.

“At Stewart, we pride ourselves on listening to the market. The new Gemini dual roller screen system provides consumers with the ability to enjoy their favorite sports and movies with the best image fidelity and performance, all with one screen application. We’re excited to present this new product offering to the market at CEDIA 2017 and hope that attendees will stop by and witness the ultimate viewing experience for themselves,” said Shannon Townley, Stewart Filmscreen President and CEO.
