Screen Innovations Brings Decorative Twists, Installation-Friendly Features to Motorized Shading Solutions

Designed with the needs of integrators, designers, and architects in mind, SI’s next-generation Nano 2 streamlines fabric swaps, leveling, and smart home integration while maintaining a sleek, modern aesthetic.

AUSTIN, TX — Whether Screen Innovations (SI) introduces a novel product category or adds cutting-edge features and capabilities to their existing line, SI is insistent that innovation never stops. The premier shade and screen manufacturer continues to push technological and design boundaries with the launch of a new and improved motorized shading cassette, Nano 2. This smart, stylish solution embodies a suite of revolutionary new features in direct response to requests from dealers and maintains the same sleek, modern aesthetic that has made the Nano line a favorite among systems integrators, designers, and end-users alike.

An enhancement especially helpful to integrators, designers, and architects is the Nano 2’s removable front cover which provides easy access to the motors, technology, and shading fabric inside the cassette. This feature enables leveling adjustments, maintenance, and fabric swaps to be handled easily without detaching the cassette from the window. The Nano 2 motor as well as power and control cables can be removed from the mounted shading cassette for service. Other refinements enable smoother, quieter raising and lowering of the shade and quicker programming and integration with other 485-controlled devices and systems.

“This product transformation demonstrates SI’s commitment to evolving and advancing its motorized shading solutions to meet the needs of integrators, designers, architects, and window covering specialists,” explains SI CEO Ryan Gustafson. “We focused on the technology inside and the cosmetics outside to create a one-of-a-kind product that gives our dealers an edge when bidding and completing projects. It helps position SI as a key player in the window fashion and interior design industry.”

The Nano 2’s rich feature set is built into SI’s 275, 375, 475 and Duo cassettes. The new Nano 2 cassettes mirror SI’s original Nano cassette, lending to a clean, consistent aesthetic in projects where both versions are employed.

Screen Innovations Pairs Ultra-Short-Throw, Unity, and Slate Projection Screen Materials with Epson, LG, Samsung, and Sony Projectors at CEDIA Expo 2022

Epson, LG, Samsung, and Sony lean on SI screens to deliver superior imaging clarity, color matching, and ultra-wide viewing angles for CEDIA Expo 2022 demonstrations of premium ultra-short-throw and laser projectors.

AUSTIN, TX — The definition of home theater has shifted vastly throughout the years, but no matter what a home theater looks like or where it’s located, big screens that accurately and reliably reproduce projected images still dictate. When Epson, LG, Samsung, and Sony needed projection materials to showcase the imaging qualities of their respective video projectors debuting at CEDIA Expo 2022, they looked to Screen Innovations

Several screens from SI’s vast portfolio will be prominently displayed throughout the CEDIA Expo show floor, demonstrating the versatility and exceptional optical performance of the line. At the LG Electronics Booth #14041, the ambient light rejecting (ALR) capabilities of SI’s Slate 1.2 and Short-Throw screen optics optimize the brightness and color accuracy of three LG projectors: the ultra-short-throw (UST) HU715QW and HU915QB and the laser projector AU810PD.

SI’s short-throw screen materials also pair up with Samsung ultra-Short-throw projectors, the SP-LST7T and SP-LST9T, at Booth #14017 and #14021. For its debut of an all-new projector at Booth #13035, Epson also chose an SI screen.

In addition to their strong presence in the CEDIA Expo exhibit hall, SI plays a critical role in Sony’s private training room, where three new laser projectors, the VPL-XW 5000ES, VPL-XW 6000ES, and VPL-XW 7000ES, rely on two SI Unity 1.0 screens to deliver crisp, clear visuals to the audience.

“Systems integrators who stop by the Epson, LG, and Samsung CEDIA Expo booths will be able to envision how an SI screen— when paired with a premium projector— can support the video needs of a wide range of residential environments,” explains SI CEO Ryan Gustafson. “From projection materials serving small, intimate media rooms to large dedicated theater spaces, with or without high levels of ambient light, SI offers screens of all sizes to produce high-quality images no matter the viewing conditions.”

SI Slate 1.2 Screen Combats Ambient Lighting at LG CEDIA Expo Booth #14041

It’s hard to render bright images under the harsh lights of a trade show, let alone exceptional black levels and contrast. Paired with LG AU810PB laser projector and HU715QW and HU915 QB ultra-short-throw projectors, SI’s ambient light rejection Slate 1.2 screen addresses the issue. The compelling projector/screen combinations are well suited for environments with high levels of ambient light, giving systems integrators viable big-screen options for today’s popular multi-purpose entertainment spaces.

SI Short-Throw ALR Screens Set a New Standard for Home Entertainment at LG and Samsung Booths #14041 and #14017/#14021

Short-throw projectors singlehandedly altered the home theater landscape, making it possible for small rooms to function as high-performance viewing environments. SI’s line of short-throw screens ensures that the pictures produced by this special breed of projector stay pristine whether a room is illuminated or not. SI’s short-throw screens use nearly invisible lenticular optics to reject all light in the room except for the light produced by an ultra-short-throw projector positioned directly below the viewing surface. Systems integrators can see how UST projectors from LG (HU715QW and HU915QB) and Samsung (SP-LST7T and SP-LST9T) combine with SI short-throw screens to deliver an immersive big-screen viewing experience at these CEDIA Expo exhibits.

SI Unity 1.0 Reference Screen Material Makes an Impact in Sony’s Light-Controlled Training Room

With nearly undiscernible texture, sparkle, or color shift, SI’s Unity 1.0 reference material excels at accurately reproducing projected images in light-controlled rooms. It also boasts an exceptionally wide viewing angle, making it an ideal choice for auditorium-style presentations and a partner for Sony’s new VPL-XW 5000ES, VPL-XW 6000ES, and VPL-XW 7000ES laser projectors.

Screen Innovations Introduces All New Designer Line of Stylish Indoor and Outdoor Projection Screens

SI’s refined Solo 3 motorized projection screen cassettes blend seamlessly into indoor and outdoor environments, offering a multitude of customization, integration, and installation options.

AUSTIN, TX — Screen Innovations (SI), a leading manufacturer of screen and shade solutions, redefines big-screen home entertainment with Solo 3, a re-envisioned line of design-centered motorized projection screen cassettes that discreetly blends into surrounding environments. The clean, sharp lines of the self-contained cassette complement trending contemporary and minimalist home designs.

Unlike most other motorized projection screen cassettes, Solo 3 is manufactured as a visually flawless unit with no typical demarcations of the end caps. Units come powder-coated in white, black, or painted to match the surrounding surface. Alternatively, when mounted above the ceiling, the entire cassette beautifully vanishes into the structure of the room. The new Solo 3— available in 375, 575, and 675 cassette sizes— replaces SI’s legacy 3 and 5 Series motorized projection screen lines. The stylish design attributes of Solo 3 help systems integrators appeal to the discerning tastes of clients who want an immersive, dynamic entertainment experience of a big screen that won’t compromise the room’s aesthetics.

Installation and programming ease is equally important to system integrators; the 575 and 675 Solo 3 models accomplish this, thanks in part, to the inclusion of a newly designed intelligent brain known as Moab. “Mother of all Boards,” this advanced 485-based control board enables faster programming of setpoints, rotation, and motor reset; it automates discovery and programming of keypads and remotes; and provides seamless, customizable integration with third-party control systems.

Designed and engineered by SI, Moab features numerous inputs and outputs to support a wide range of 485-based automation and control configurations and simplify the commissioning of screen settings with other control devices such as SI keypads. Built into the eye-catching translucent housing of Moab, which may be purchased separately for programming assistance, are 485- and dry contact ports, 12-volt triggers, and IR receivers. All programming can be accomplished using Moab without a computer or software.

While Moab is tucked neatly and securely inside the Solo 3 575 and 675 motorized projection screen cassettes, systems integrators can easily access it, as well as the internal motor, cabling, and screen material, through Solo 3’s unique removable fascia. Even when the Solo 3 cassette is mounted, systems integrators can quickly access the internal components to program, level the projection fabric and readjust settings.

Solo 3 is suitable for a wide range of applications, as the cassette accommodates SI’s many projection screen materials: This includes short-throw screen material for small spaces, Ambient Light Rejecting (ALR) materials for rooms tackling an abundance of natural and artificial light, acoustically transparent screens for concealing speakers, and twin-view which presents images on both sides of the material for a 360-degree view.

Like SI’s celebrated Zen 2 and Nano 2 shading solutions, the Solo 3 cassette may be preinstalled during construction (with the cassette and tube as separate pieces); this noteworthy, deconstructed design makes the Solo 3 lighter and easier to handle, requiring less muscle, manpower, and time to install than previous models. The Solo 3 375 cassette may be powered by a rechargeable lithium battery for applications where running wires is more difficult than typical projects. The lithium battery can be charged manually via SI’s revolutionary recharging wand, or energy harvested by a forthcoming integrated solar panel. Solo Outdoor will be available later in 2022.

“We’ve taken the best features of our most popular indoor and outdoor screen and shade systems and applied them to our signature Solo 3 motorized screen assembly,” says SI CEO Ryan Gustafson. “Thanks to all the feedback from our dealers and customers, we hit the nail on the head with this total refresh, which gives systems integrators, designers, architects, and builders an easy, effective, and revolutionary way to bring big-screen entertainment anywhere, inside or outside the home. The home entertainment trend shows no sign of slowing, and Solo 3 strives to help our dealers capitalize on this burgeoning market.”

Where to See Solo 3

Solo 3 will debut during CEDIA Expo in Booth #19061. As a focal point of the booth, a 575 Solo 3 cassette with 160-inch Slate projection screen fabric demonstrates the brawn and beauty of this innovative motorized projection screen solution. It joins SI’s other design-forward solutions, including Zen 2 outdoor motorized shading and Nano 2 motorized indoor shading. Screen Innovations Fuels Outdoor Entertainment Trend with Motorized Shade Cassette that Blends in with the Environment

Beautifully engineered, Screen Innovations’ Zen 2 motorized shading solution turns outdoor areas into stunning year-round living spaces.

AUSTIN, TX — Screen Innovations (SI), the CEDIA industry’s fastest-growing manufacturer of motorized and manual window coverings, brings beautiful motorized shading to the outdoors with the easy-install, design-friendly solution, Zen 2. Developed to blend into outdoor environments and install in half the time as other motorized shade systems, Zen 2 boasts an elegant, customizable, architecturally-friendly design that transforms decks, gazebos, patios, and limitless other outdoor areas into comfortable, stylish living spaces.

“Systems integrators across the country indicated greater consumer interest in having a comfortable space outside to relax and entertain friends and family. Zen 2 caters to this trend by allowing homeowners to simply push a button to enclose an area with a beautiful shade that offers protection against the elements and insects,” says SI CEO Ryan Gustafson. “It dramatically extends the enjoyment of the outdoors, complements its surrounding environment, and adds valuable square footage to any home— everything the systems integrators’ customers are requesting.”

The Zen 2 motorized cassette accommodates a wide selection of outdoor shading fabrics, up to 25 feet wide and 16 feet tall, is available in several designer colors, or can be primed to paint for a perfect color match with the surrounding surface. Plus, Zen 2 installs in half the time of other outdoor shading systems with its unique snap-in tube and hidden bracket attachment. The cassette may be preinstalled and the tube snapped into place, affording a simple installation process. Zen 2’s zipper track system provides integrators twice the freedom of other track systems, simplifying the specification and installation process.

Zen 2 integrates with the latest smart home control systems through wireless Zigbee 3.0, RTS, or wired 485-based connection; this enables the movement of the shades to be choreographed with lighting, AV equipment, and more. Home systems integrators can use SI software to synchronize the movement of multiple shades and to open and close to several preset positions.

“After interviewing many integrators, we realized simplicity of installation is a top priority, next to design. Without question, Zen 2 streamlines integrators’ time and effort, while capitalizing on the growing demand for outdoor living areas.” Gustafson continues, “We truly feel that if integrators, designers, and homeowners are happy with a product, we’ve hit a home systems homerun.”

Screen Innovations Bolsters Screen and Shade Business with Appointment of Kim Parker as COO

Kim ParkerFormer Snap One executive Kim Parker implements new sales, marketing, and R&D strategies to leverage SI’s screen and shade presence throughout residential and commercial AV and window covering channels.

AUSTIN, TX (May 18, 2022) — There’s no question, the demand for motorized window coverings and projection screens is skyrocketing. Still recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers continue to seek ways to make their home and work environments more entertaining, productive, and comfortable. Smart, stylish shades and screens hold the key. Market analysts are bullish on the trend, too; Global Industry Analysts Inc. forecasts the global blinds and shades market to reach $11.8 Billion by 2026 and a report by MarketWatch anticipates the global projection screen market to rise at a considerable rate (2% CAGR) between 2021 and 2025.

Screen Innovations is taking decisive and deliberate steps to grab a slice of this pie, most recently with the appointment of Kim Parker as SI’s new COO. Formerly Snap One Vice President of Sales, Specialty Channels, Parker has the skills and passion to strengthen and advance SI’s screen and shade business with dynamic sales and marketing, product development, and service and support initiatives. Drawing from more than twenty-five years of experience building and implementing successful business plans for a wide range of companies within the custom integration industry, Parker will spearhead programs focused on building a larger presence for SI within AV, systems integration, window covering, and other residential and commercial channels.

From our beginnings as a garage start-up in Austin, Texas, we’ve established ourselves as a premier manufacturer of technologically advanced, design-forward screen and shade solutions in the systems integration community. It’s time to press forward, expanding opportunities and scale for our dealers,” says SI CEO Ryan Gustafson. “The projection screen and window covering markets continue to grow at record rates; we feel have the right products and ideas to make a huge impact, and now, with Kim leading the charge, we have the right person in place to bring our screen and shade visions to fruition.”

Kim Parker Reaffirms SI as a Trend-Setter in Shade and Screen
A self-proclaimed fan of SI for years, Parker has kept a close eye on the company’s progression during his 13-year tenure at Control4 and Snap One. “I was blown away by SI’s Black Diamond screen material the first time I witnessed it while touring the manufacturing facility years ago, and even encouraged our dealers to check it out,” Parker enthuses. “As SI evolved into shades, I saw a remarkable business opportunity and felt compelled to help them scale their business model to meet the incredible market demand, just as I had with Control4, Snap One, and other companies in the past.

“SI is already known as the irrefutable trendsetter in the projection screen industry, and they’re on the same trajectory for shade. I’m thrilled to be on board to accelerate that momentum by expanding SI’s sales channels into new markets, improving our product development and manufacturing processes, refining our marketing strategies, and strengthening our dealer support.”

As SI’s new COO, Parker will be involved in every facet of the SI business, from product development, sales, and marketing to dealer support, training, and education. “Our success hinges directly on our dealers’ successes,” Parker continues. “It’s a key tenant of SI that involves an entire chain of deliverables that we’ll be addressing— even down to purchase orders and documentation— we’ll be making it simpler, more streamlined, and more accessible as part of our overall business-building objective.”

With Parker at the helm, SI is poised to build and broaden its shade and screen business through problem-solving, aesthetically appealing products, extensive training and education, and opportunities to work collaboratively with architects, designers, and window covering specialists. “Kim understands that SI is only as successful as its dealers, and is committed to providing them with all the tools necessary to make shade a bigger, more profitable part of their business,” Gustafson says.
