Compact and with a unique battery-powered option, SI calls Solo 2 the “biggest little screen ever made.”

Austin, TX (January 16, 2020) — Screen Innovations (SI), a premiere manufacturer of optical screen and shade materials, introduces at ISE 2020 a Stand #1-N80, an all-new, completely re-engineered version of its Solo family, now up to 3.5 meters wide in AC, DC and wireless lithium rechargeable options. One of the signature features of SI’s new Solo 2 motorized cassette is its compact, decorator-friendly design. With cassette sizes starting at 90mm in depth and height, the Solo 2 is 17% smaller than the original version, allowing it to be installed in places that would otherwise be impossible.

Revolutionary Battery Charging Capability

Solo 2 employs a long-lasting, environmentally friendly rechargeable lithium-powered motor. This battery can last up to two years on a single charge, minimizing maintenance and landfill waste caused by disposable alkaline batteries. When the Solo 2 batteries do need to be recharged, there’s no need to pull out a ladder to reach and disassemble the motor casing. SI’s patent-pending magnetic charging port simplifies the process. A charging cord attaches to the Solo 2 charging port magnetically; users simply extend a telescoping pole to reach the port, and the magnetic clips on instantly. In addition to the rechargeable motor, a low-voltage 24v motor is available, which also provides flexibility of integration and installation. An AC power option is a newly available option with wireless or hardwired control.

Flexible Design Supports Many Types of Screens and Applications

Through its innovative design, Solo 2 enables screens of any size to be integrated into a variety of environments, despite structural or space constraints. For example, when mounted to the Solo 2 motorized housing, an ambient light rejecting screen can descend directly in front of a large bank of windows, rolling up into the slim cassette to preserve the view completely. The Solo 2 can be mounted above a ceiling for complete concealment. For installations where Solo 2 is exposed, it can be ordered in a wide assortment of colors to complement the room design.

“The Solo 2 redefines the design of big screens by enabling them to descend into a room from a barely perceptible motorized cassette,” says SI CEO Ryan Gustafson. “This cassette is so small, and thanks to a battery-powered option, it allows screens of all sizes and materials to be located in places where they traditionally couldn’t go. Plus, we’ve packed the cassette with more power, reverse roll capability, simple serviceability, and high-quality components.”

Whether a project calls for a 110-inch screen or a 160-inch screen, situated in a dark room or a well-lit room, the Solo 2 also accommodates a wide variety of screen materials, such as SI’s popular ambient light rejecting Slate material, highly refined white and gray materials, and options rated for 8K projection. Additionally, Solo 2 is the only motorized screen assembly that supports short-throw projection materials, providing yet another design-friendly placement option.
