Masters of home theater discuss theater design best practices in this intensive, day-long course, offering valuable insight and instruction on the art of home cinema and eight CEU credits during CEDIA Expo 2019.

New York, NY (August 20, 2019) Rayva executive director Theo Kalomirakis will again be co-presenting the wildly popular CEDIA Home Cinema Design Masterclass curriculum during CEDIA Expo 2019 next month in Denver. There, Kalormirakis will be joined by industry experts Joel Silver, founder of the Imaging Science Foundation, and Anthony Grimani, president of Grimani Systems.

As part of CEDIA’s extensive educational track, this featured day-long session will provide technology integrators with in-depth insights on theater design from these three notable industry experts in Room: 112, Wednesday, September 11, from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Attendees completing the course will earn eight CEU Credits.

“The bar for educational offerings at CEDIA Expo continues to be raised and the CEDIA Home Cinema Design Masterclass is a one-of-a-kind opportunity,” says CEDIA Senior Director of Education Samantha Ventura. “Attendees will have unmatched access to three of the industry’s brightest minds in an engaging, day-long format…If you’re a veteran technology integrator looking to take a deep dive, you won’t want to miss this session.”

Key aspects of home theater design to be discussed include technologies impacting brightness levels of projected images, achieving and managing proper bass performance, and merging technology and design to create the perfect viewing environment. Details below:

How Bright Does a Projected Image Need to Be?

A key topic to be covered by Silver in this in-depth educational session is the appropriate brightness levels of projected images. In this part of the presentation, “How bright does a projected image need be?” Silver, the 2018 CEDIA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, will detail the impact of emerging video standards and technologies on desired home cinema brightness levels, with a focus on HDR in a projection-based environment.

Achieving Better Bass

In his portion of the Home Cinema Design Masterclass, Grimani will explore and discuss various options for managing bass performance in theaters with multiple seats. The section will also examine the influence of room layout and construction on achieved bass performance. Grimani is a CEDIA Fellow and has worked on more than 1,000 theater projects throughout a 34-year career at Dolby, THX, and PMI.

Uniting Design and Technology for the Complete Package

Kalomirakis will wrap up the informative session by sharing his experience balancing performance, aesthetics, and usability in high-end home cinema. His discussion will detail room construction, layout, interfaces, and environmental controls. Kalomirakis, known as “The Father of Home Theater,” has designed private cinemas for movie stars, sports legends, and world leaders.
