MERIDIAN’S Free Design and Specification Service Benefits Custom Installers

As part of a comprehensive custom install offering designed to show integrators in the US that Meridian is dedicated to the channel, Meridian will showcase its free-of-charge Meridian Design and Specification Service at CEDIA 2016, in booth #5708. This time-saving service reduces cost and overhead for Meridian dealers working on whole-home, superyacht, and home theater projects by simplifying the design process and giving custom installers CAD drawings, including speaker and room elevations based on room dimensions, and more.

“Meridian’s Design and Specification Service is all about adding value for our customers, while providing an indispensable tool for custom installers,” says Barry Sheldrick, Director of Sales for Meridian. “It will make it easier and quicker for dealers to select and specify the best products for any application, freeing up valuable time so they can concentrate on other aspects of an installation. The Meridian Design and Specification Service will also help installers achieve the exceptional performance expected from a Meridian system.”

The service helps installers design room layout, speaker positions (for two-channel and home theater systems), and wiring diagrams. In addition, it shows how Meridian components can interface with existing audio and video distribution systems, as well as third-party control systems. The Design and Specification Service makes it easy to integrate both analog and digital sources with Meridian DSP loudspeakers, all over the home or yacht.

“We have used the Meridian Design and Specification Service for a couple of our recent projects, and I have been extremely impressed with the speed of preparation, accuracy, and presentation quality of the design proposals produced for us,” says Vincent Murphy of London-based integration firm, TechniQuest. “In the preparation of the Project Design Proposal, we discussed the brief with Meridian, including any possible alternatives to the system we originally had in mind. On several occasions that feedback alone has proved invaluable to the specification of the system that we eventually proposed to the client. It’s altogether a very good service and a great additional string to Meridian’s bow.”

Joakim Sands of Sweden-based distributor Ljudtema, recently used the service on a large distributed audio project he was involved in. “We worked in an effective collaboration with Meridian to produce a document that really helped the client to understand certain aspects of the design of the system,” says Sands. “Meridian even included extra information about each of the products, which gave the client a real insight into why those products were chosen and what they would bring to the audio experience. It was a very useful service, and we will definitely be using it again.”

Meridian has also partnered with The Cinema Designer, a well-respected design tool that enables the Design and Specification Service to provide CAD drawings with 3D renders, seating positioning, and speaker layouts. The Cinema Designer also provides 3D positioning of speakers, in alignment with the highest industry standards, incorporating the guidelines from Dolby and CEDIA on speaker positioning. The render allows users to choose seating colors, carpet colors, and wall and ceiling types, which gives an accurate impression of how the finished home cinema will look. This added feature of the Meridian Design and Specification Service makes it a fully comprehensive package, able to handle the most complex projects and produce straightforward, clear documents that help both client and installer understand more about their home theater or whole-home project.

To begin the proposal process, dealers simply need to provide Meridian with a plan of the room or house, and room dimensions, and email it to [email protected]. Meridian will provide co-branded drawings of the proposed system layout and an associated wiring diagram as pdf files within 48 hours at no cost. If a dealer has a preferred projector or screen they would like to use, this information can also be incorporated.
