At the Pacific Design Center (PDC) in Los Angeles, home to more than 2,000 manufacturers and over 70 showrooms, creating a reference-grade listening environment is a formidable challenge. Inside Gryphon Audio LA, that challenge has been turned into a defining advantage through one critical element: Torus Power.
The result is one of the most advanced audio showrooms in the United States, purpose-built to deliver uncompromised two-channel immersion across three distinct listening environments. By fully isolating the showroom from the building’s shared electrical infrastructure, Torus Power establishes the stable foundation reference-grade audio components require for pristine audio reproduction.
“I can play a vinyl record, lift the tonearm, and you don’t hear a thing. The inherent noise completely disappears,” says Gryphon Audio LA founder Joseph Cali. That silence is where immersion begins.
A Ground-Up Vision for Torus Power
Founded in March 2025, Gryphon Audio LA is the world’s first international mono-brand Gryphon showroom. Spanning 3,200 square feet, it features three dedicated two-channel listening rooms designed in a “good, better, best” progression, from EOS to Trident to the flagship Kodo system.
Each room showcases a complete Gryphon ecosystem, including amplifiers, speakers, sources, cabling, and local power management devices, all engineered to function as a unified whole. But in an environment as electrically complex as the PDC, neither world-class components nor meticulous system design alone isn’t enough. True immersion requires absolute control over power.
Building an Electrical Barrier Against the PDC
The PDC is one of the most electrically dense commercial environments in the country. Thousands of showrooms, lighting systems, and shared infrastructure introduce constant noise and interference onto the grid. For some spaces, this is inconsequential. For Gryphon Audio, however, where resolution, dynamics, and spatial accuracy define the experience, it’s unacceptable. “We knew immediately that power had to be our own,” says Cali. “In a building like this, if you don’t isolate your power, you’re compromising everything.”
Putting Power at the Forefront of the Showroom Design
From the earliest design phase, Cali specified a Torus Power All-in-One (AIO) panel as the electrical backbone of the showroom. The system features a dedicated subpanel with 20 breakers, delivering isolated 20-amp circuits to every room and outlet. At its core, a massive toroidal isolation transformer, advanced surge suppression, and a separately derived ground work together to deliver clean, regulated, and fully isolated power to every audio component in the luxury show spaces. “Our power is our own in this space,” Cali explains. “Every outlet comes off that Torus Power panel. It isolates and protects us completely.”
Enabling True Two-Channel Immersion
With noise eliminated at the source and the inclusion of a Gryphon PowerZone 3 power management device, the reference audio systems perform without constraint. The result is an incredibly low noise floor, heightened dynamic contrast, and precise spatial realism. Across all three rooms, listeners experience a soundstage that feels natural, dimensional, and emotionally immediate. “They end up feeling like they’re at the concert,” Cali says. “That’s what we like to call, ‘immersive two-channel listening.’”
Because every system is powered by the same isolated foundation, performance remains consistent from room to room. This allows Gryphon Audio LA to present a true progression of systems without variability introduced by power conditions.
“It’s not uncommon for visitors to spend more than two hours moving between rooms, experiencing how system scale evolves,” Cali says. “When listeners find it hard to break away, we know we’ve done our job well.”
Defining the Client Experience
The showroom is designed not only for audiophiles, but to introduce new audiences to high-performance sound. During events like WestWeek, designers and architects bring clients into the space to experience it firsthand. “The reaction is immediate,” says Cali. “People suddenly understand what’s possible when they hear audio in an environment brings together great equipment, proper acoustics, and clean, consistent power.”
Delivering a New Benchmark for Luxury AV
Gryphon Audio LA reveals a fundamental truth for luxury AV: power is not an accessory—it is the foundation. By integrating Torus Power at the infrastructure level, the showroom achieves a standard of performance that would be unattainable in a shared commercial environment.
That same philosophy extends beyond the showroom into Cali’s high-profile residential projects, where performance expectations are equally uncompromising. “We start with Torus Power as the foundation, and then build the system from there,” he says. It’s an approach he applies across luxury homes where consistency, reliability, and sonic accuracy are paramount.
In this way, the Gryphon Audio LA experience is not a one-off—it is a proof point. A demonstration of what becomes possible when power is treated as a core design element rather than an afterthought.
Surrounded by electrical complexity, the showroom stands apart, delivering clarity, control, and emotional connection at the highest level. And at the center of it all is Torus Power, enabling the full expression of two-channel immersion in every environment it touches.
