CEDIA BOOTH #4108
Stewart Filmscreen® Debuts New Phantom™ High Ambient Light Rejecting Material, Large Residential Application Screens and Standard Solutions at CEDIA 2016
From the highly differentiated Phantom™ HALR™ to the biggest seamless screens on the show floor, as well as easy-to-order, quick-to-ship screen options for common applications, the Stewart Filmscreen booth is the place to be at CEDIA 2016
TORRANCE, CA & DALLAS, TX (Sept. 15, 2016) — Stewart Filmscreen®—Academy Award® winning manufacturer of high-performance projection screens and projection screen materials—is launching a new line-up of screens, never before seen at CEDIA and now shipping to the custom integration community, at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, during CEDIA, September 15 – 17, 2016. In addition to launching the brand-new, highly differentiated Phantom High Ambient Light Rejecting Screen, Stewart Filmscreen will show how selecting the right screen material and framing system for each project enables creativity and empowers home technologists to deliver the best image possible for any application imaginable.
“Stewart Filmscreen is committed to creating new opportunity for our partners by consistently listening to their needs and providing the right solutions for the job,” says Mark Robinson, VP of Technology for Stewart Filmscreen. “Many of the screens we’ll be showcasing at this year’s CEDIA, including those made from our new Phantom High Ambient Light Rejecting material, are not simply re-hashes of older products, but innovations in the field of projection materials.”
“In addition,” he states, “home technologists don’t have to worry about keeping pace with increasing resolution demands. Stewart Filmscreen products have been 16K + compatible since 1947 and easily able to accommodate technology advances now and in the foreseeable future.”
Product introductions at CEDIA include:
Highly Differentiated Phantom High Ambient Light Rejecting Screen with 16K+ Resolution Capabilities and Acoustic Transparency Options
For the first time ever, Stewart Filmscreen will launch the Phantom HALR black screen at CEDIA, with four unique features that put this new screen in a class by itself.
Phantom is available is seamless sizes up to 40-feet by 90-feet to accommodate the largest, most demanding applications. It is highly versatile, designed for use with most of Stewart’s fixed frame or ElectriScreen models. Phantom is also available in Cinemaperf or Microperf X2 THX Ultra configurations for acoustic transparency, and it is future-proof, thanks to Stewart’s proprietary 16K+ resolution capabilities. Delivering unrivaled results, Phantom HALR is UHD and HDR-ready, and will calibrate out to REC 2020 or REC 709 standards without obvious color aberrations or shift that skew the primary and secondary colors. Featuring a category-leading L* value of 57 and ambient light reflectance value of 18 percent, Phantom is uniquely designed to deliver the brightest images, truest colors, whitest whites, and blackest blacks in any environment, to ultimately outperform every other screen on the market. Because Phantom uniformly rejects ambient light across the full screen width and height, there is no “sweet spot axis.” Meaning, every seat in the house is the best, whether you’re sitting directly in front of the screen or off-center.
A strategic addition to the Stewart Filmscreen lineup, Phantom HALR will be actively demonstrated during CEDIA, paired with a 4K Barco Prometheus II laser projector complemented by custom-designed LEON speakers selected to showcase the screen’s exemplary capabilities. The hybrid LEON speaker system created for CEDIA comprises the company’s PrUltima and Aaros speakers in a single cabinet and a hybrid subwoofer modeled off the company’s A3 1W sub. Offering a frequency response from 35Hz to 20kHz, the LEON Performance Hybrid PrUltima will add ambience and aural energy to the Phantom demo and Stewart Filmscreen booth.
New Stealth® XM Expands the Stealth Trapdoor Series with Larger Sizes and Streamlined Look
The Stealth® XM screen was designed for large-scale applications where the screen must be completely concealed when not in use. Home technologists can choose from a variety of Stewart’s front- or rear-projection materials, including the new and innovative Phantom High Ambient Light Rejecting material, for the ultimate flexibility in any application, from private cinemas to family rooms where other activities may be going on at the same time, and even daytime viewing.
Like the Torrent™, the Stealth XM relocates the controls inside the case for easy and reliable access. All functions, including screen operation, control system, and mounting protocol, are accessible via the door opening, instead of access panels. The Stealth XM trapdoor offers a hinge-less self-finishing appearance for streamlined installation. Thanks to the new roller tube design, the Stealth XM is now available in image widths up to 13 feet 4 inches, significantly wider than previous trapdoor electric screen designs.
New Torrent Large Venue ElectriScreen Looks Incredible and Installs Like a Dream
CEDIA attendees are invited to see Stewart Filmscreen’s new Torrent ElectriScreen at CEDIA Booth 4108. This large-venue ElectriScreen system, designed for luxury home cinemas, family rooms, and outdoor applications where a large screen is crucial for visibility and “wow” factor, gives home technologists the option of an elegant recessed roller screen with an image width up to 17 feet wide. Boasting 16K + compatibility since 1947, the screen easily accommodates today’s increasingly common 4K Ultra HD imagery and is, additionally, future-proof as resolutions continue to evolve.
The Torrent has a streamlined case with a beautiful finish, designed to be only 9 ¼ inches tall by 12 ½ inches deep—considerably smaller than competitors’ offerings and preceding Stewart units of this scale. The small case height and simple four-point mounting system allow the Torrent to fit a wider range of ceiling depths, reducing the workload on integrators. Torrent eliminates side access covers through use of offset interior endplates. Unlike many competing offerings, Stewart ensures a substantially reinforced roller system to handle traditional aspect ratios, but also can customize Torrent with plenty of extra black drop above the image area for rooms with high ceilings.
Torrent features a self-finishing ceiling flange for clean lines. With the self-finishing flange incorporated into the design, installations can be completed quicker, without the need for additional trim or molding. Additionally, the screen control system is located inside the case. Torrent’s dust plate removes easily for total access to the roller system and control connections during installation and clips back into place for a clean slotted appearance from below. With access to the control connections inside the case with accessibility from below, finalizing the installation connections is much easier and more reliable for the technologist. Should there ever arise a need for future access for screen upgrade or service, the easy-access dust plate design saves time and money, adding to the lower total cost of ownership.
Because noise-level control is critical in all applications, Torrent features a 47dB, low-noise, high-torque motor system as the standard. Options for even quieter motor systems are also available. Like all Stewart Filmscreen electric screens, the Torrent can be configured with any of Stewart’s flexible front- and rear-projection screen materials, including the new Phantom High Ambient Light Rejecting material (with the exception of Silver 3D), and has control options allowing for integration into virtually any automation system.
All Stewart ElectriScreens are U.L. or ETL approved and are outfitted with Stewart’s Intelligent Motor Control or LVC system and a three-button wall switch as a standard control package. An Infrared Remote Package, RS-232 Package, and Ethernet Package are available as upgrade options.
