“The conversation can’t just be about audio anymore,” said Noah Kaplan, Leon’s President and Founder. “It used to be enough to just have great sounding speakers, but people expect more now. They want something that doesn’t feel like a commodity. We believe that custom homes need real custom options, and it is—and has always been—our mission to deliver that.”

Ann Arbor, MI – (August 20, 2018) – Continuing to lead the conversation on the importance of blending design with technology,Leon Speakers will be introducing a new suite of products at the 2018 CEDIA Expo (booth #5401) that do just that. Partnering with some of the biggest brands in the industry, Leon’s new innovations were designed to pair perfectly with some of today’s most popular AV products, giving integrators new and creative possibilities to bring to their clients.
Leon’s entire booth will have a strong focus on design—from the products themselves to the custom artwork on the walls to their decked-out 1967 Airstream. They’re looking to expand their vision of “mixing art with audio and design with technology” beyond just their own product line, bringing streamlined design solutions to other industry manufacturers’ products. “This year for CEDIA, we decided to dive in for radical transformation of modern audio. We’ve been working closely with our industry partners to provide highly artistic pieces that will redefine American home audio,” said Noah Kaplan, Leon’s President & Founder.
Among the new products being shown is a collection of Sound Sculptures that was developed after their Lena Sound Sculpture (shown above) won a prestigious BORN Award this past Spring. This new Sound Sculpture line will be production-ready, offering a variety of standard sizes, designs, and pricing. Leon will also be debuting Terra’s portfolio of outdoor speakers (below) in their booth for the first time following their acquisition of the company earlier this year. The merger dramatically expands Leon’s outdoor capabilities, adding over a dozen all-climate, IP67-rated speakers, subwoofers, and outdoor sound & lighting solutions to their current product offering.
Also on display will be speakers from Leon’s UX, ULTIMA, and SEVEN product families, their popular line of Tonecase products for Sonos, and their high-end TV concealment solutions by Media Décor, a Leon company.

The two companies announced their merger today which will add dozens of products to Leon’s current portfolio, bringing more American-made audio than ever to their dealerbase
Ann Arbor, MI – Leon Speakers announced that they have acquired Terra Speakers, Maine-based manufacturer of rugged, all-weather speakers. This purchase greatly expands Leon’s portfolio of high-performance, custom loudspeakers, providing new residential and commercial business opportunities.
Leon and Terra have a long history of working together that dates back over a decade with Leon president Noah Kaplan and Terra president James Banfield having collaborated extensively on product development. Terra’s All Climate FIVE line of all-weather loudspeakers was designed in partnership with Kaplan, and Leon’s Boundary Series outdoor speakers are made with drivers manufactured by Terra at its Maine plant.
“We’ve been collaborating with Terra for years now and over that time we’ve found that our companies share a lot of the same core values and the common vision of creating high-performance, design-driven audio products that are made right here in America” said Kaplan. “We’re both passionate about art, music, design, and craftsmanship, and Terra’s strong expertise in the outdoor market will be a huge asset to our company.”
The acquisition will bring a whole host of new products to Leon’s current residential and commercial product lines, especially bolstering their outdoor audio offerings. Terra is known in the industry for creating durable speakers that are built to thrive in rugged weather conditions, and their current product line will help to build out Leon’s Boundary Series of outdoor speakers. The merger also opens up new opportunities in the professional and house of worship market on the commercial side of their business, as Terra has been a player in this area for many years.
“The merger just made sense for us and for Leon,” said Banfield. “We are especially excited, as it brings Terra to a larger base of customers, reps, and dealers. And it will mean that our collective products can continue to grow, while continuing to keep our operations here in the country. Both companies are able to assure quality because we make our products from start to finish right in house.”
Of the merger, Kaplan offered his excitement. “We have both been building handcrafted custom audio products for over two decades so we speak the same language, we face the same challenges, and above all we love what we do. We are ready to evolve together to meet the needs of the ever changing landscape of custom audio and design.”

Leon’s HIFIT Soundbar Conceals Small Components Like Voice Assistants, Web Cams, Smart Speakers, and More
Innovative soundbar with discreet built-in storage space offers integrators and consumers a new way to experience technology without seeing it
Ann Arbor, MI – (March 2018) – Leon Speakers, American manufacturer of handcrafted, bespoke audio and audiovisual solutions, has received significant accolades and awards for their innovative new Horizon Interactive FIT soundbar. Developed for use in both residential and commercial spaces, the patent-pending Horizon Interactive FIT is the first and only soundbar on the market that combines high-fidelity audio with internal AV storage space—all neatly concealed behind a custom grill built to match the width of the TV or screen it is connected to.
The HIFIT features two (2) 4″ woofers and two (2) 28mm tweeters which flank an internal storage area designed to house small-format AV components such as Apple TV, Amazon Echo Dot, Roku, Leon’s new OTO MCA 200 amplifier, Control4 controllers, small webcams, and more. Fully customizable, HIFIT is only 2.75” deep and available in two models: HIFIT44UX to accommodate TVs up to 65” diagonal and HIFIT44UX-OS for screens up to 90” diagonal.
Leon’s HIFIT makes it possible for integrators to conceal technology and create a contemporary solution especially appealing for those who want to experience technology rather than see it.
“The first time we saw the Horizon Interactive FIT, we knew we needed to get one for our showroom so we could introduce it to our dealer network. Not only is the sound quality exceptional—like all of Leon’s products—but the ability to manage power cords, communication wiring, and amplification while also storing small IoT devices like Amazon Echo Dot, Ethernet switches, or your favorite integration system like RTI is so helpful to the installer. Interior designers will love it too because the grill is custom built to match the exact width of the TV, giving the install an elegant look.” –Fermin Serrano, Technical Manager at Integral Home Systems (IHS) in Spain
The Horizon Interactive FIT took home a “Best of Show” award during ISE 2018, the third industry award for the HIFIT, which also won the CE Pro Best Award and the CEDIA Best of Show Award from Residential Systems at the 2017 CEDIA Expo in San Diego, California.
